This Woodward hydraulic governor controlled the blades of a 1.25 megawatt Smith-Putnum Wind Turbine. The machine was a two-bladed 174 ft rotor diameter turbine unit. The turbine was connected to a General Electric 600 rpm generator. This machine was the largest wind turbine ever built until 1979.
